The Strawberry Festival is the New-York Historical Society’s annual luncheon benefit recognizing dynamic women in public life, tracing its roots to 1856. The 2015 Strawberry Festival will honor renowned political commentator Cokie Roberts and award-winning television journalist Lesley Stahl with the Women in Public Life Award. The event will also celebrate Trustee Sue Ann Weinberg who will be honored with our Distinguished Service Medal. A highlight of the luncheon will be a conversation between Ms. Stahl and Ms. Roberts about Ms. Roberts' new book, Capital Dames: The Civil War and the Women of Washington 1848 – 1868.
Proceeds from this event will support crucial education programs for our city's growing population of young people. The DiMenna Children’s History Museum has become a magnet not only for children and families on weekends and school holidays but, importantly, for 200,000 New York City public school students for whom the Museum serves as a critical adjunct to history education, English language learning, and basic literacy.
