All Aboard: Historic Trains and Toys Weekend

Families will create train-inspired art, hear tales of the rails, hunt for hidden objects, and learn about the history of trains. Different programs each day!

Saturday December 15

Conductor Bob
1–3 pm
Holiday Express, Luce Galleries
Climb aboard and meet Conductor Bob who will be stationed in Holiday Express! Young kids age 2 - 6 will love Conductor Bob’s fun train stories, silly games and big train whistle as they investigate the train scenes together. Let Conductor Bob entertain and challenge your kids with observations and questions about the trains you see!

Create a Train!
1–3 pm
Holiday Express, Luce Galleries
Cut out and decorate your own train car. Add it to our train and help create the longest train in New York!
Ages 2–6

Can You Spot It?
10 am–6 pm
Holiday Express, Rotunda and Luce Galleries
Discover more than meets the eye! Spot the intricate details in these amazing model train scenes made by the Märklin model train company. Can you spot the refreshment stand? The station clock? How many train cars are pulling into the train station? Bring the whole family, pick up your self-guided hunt, and see who can spot the most!

Tales of the Rails
1–3 pm
Holiday Express, Luce Galleries

Join us for classic tales of trains, train stations, cargo, and passengers! These stories will delight train enthusiasts and entertain young visitors. See old Penn Station built before your eyes in William Low’s Old Penn Station; climb aboard a steam engine and travel to the North Pole in the classic Polar Express; imagine the tunnels, stations, passengers, and toys in The Little Engine That Could and Chugga Chugga Choo Choo.
