One of the more exclusive hereditary societies, the Holland Society was founded in New York in 1885. Its membership is limited to direct male descendants of those who lived in New Netherlands before or during 1675. A variety of national origins were represented among those 1400 residents. At one time, membership included ten Roosevelts, four Stuyvesants, nine Shuylers and ten van Rensselaers.
Due to ongoing research, information about this object is subject to change.
