Description: 
Badge on a ribbon in a case. White enamel Maltese cross, surmounted by a crown, set on a green enamel wreath left-side oak leaf and the right laurel, obverse center features an icon of Christ. Reverse features an enamel white cross on a blue background surrounded by a Greek inscription. Medal is suspended from a blue and white grosgrain ribbon.

Established in 1833, the Order of the Redeemer was the first order of merit created by the modern Greek state. Initially, the order was awarded to Greek citizens who participated in the War of Independence, but was later expanded to recognize contributions more broadly to the Greek nation.
