Description 
Ovoid cardboard bandbox and lid, sides of box covered with paper printed with pattern of parrots perched on branches in various poses, with palm trees and bunches of growing flowers in the background, in brown, green, and white, on blue ground; lid covered with paper printed with tropical scene of seated woman in shepherdess' costume, with crook, next to ram, under fruit tree, in green, brown, and white on blue ground; edge of lid covered in paper printed with geometric pattern consisting of repeating loops and circles in brown on white ground; lap joints secured with stitching.

Gallery Label 
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
