Description: 
Ovoid cardboard bandbox and lid covered in paper printed with geometric pattern in orange and yellow, consisting of floral motifs and abstract tendrils within zones divided by yellow strips embellished by orange outlines and designs; inside, sides of box covered with newspaper clippings in German, bottom covered with paper with numerous handwritten inscriptions (possibly a list or page from a ledger); lap joints secured with metal tacks.

This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
