Bronze struck medal with obverse showing three accolated busts of French military officers facing right, flanked by laurel branches; legend above: "BATAILLE DE LA MARNE"; inscription in exergue: "SEPTEMBRE/1914." Reverse shows aerial view of the battlefield with soldiers at left firing a cannon; female allegorical figure of Liberty with a sword is flying overhead.
