Description 
Wrought silver beaker; raised cylindrical body with a slightly flared lip; applied, reeded baseband; oval reserve on the front center engraved, "I W" in bright-cut script; engraved below the reserve, "J W H" in script; maker's marks on the base.

Maker's marks: stamped on base, around center punch: "I * V" in roman letters in a cartouche, roman "P" in a shield, and an illegible figure in a shield (possibly an eagle). Inscription: engraved at center front of body, bright-cut initials "S [or I] W" in foliate script surrounded by bright-cut oval scalloped frame. Inscription: engraved immediately underneath oval frame reserve initials "JWH" in bright-cut.

According to the original bill of sale housed in the Historical Society's library, this mug, along with a beaker and two sets of flatware, were purchased from John Vernon by Benjamin White in 1794.
