White metal struck medal with nude bust of Washington, facing right, in depression surrounded by raised border with sword and ear of wheat on either side and legend: "THE LOVER OF PEACE/FOR THE COLONIES' BIRTHRIGHT/HE ESPOUSED THE SWORD"; legend within central circle: "1775 - 100 YEARS - 1875." Reverse shows house and tree within central circle with inscription in exergue: "THE WASHINGTON/ELM" and legend below: "ISAAC F WOOD'S SERIES "C" NO 4"; legend around border: "CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS, JUNE THIRD 1875/CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION."
