Underwood and Underwood, "Suffrage Rally "Wake Up America" Demonstration, April 19, 1917". New-York Historical Society.
The New-York Historical Society’s new Center for the Study of Women’s History is a landmark undertaking that will transform a substantial portion of the New-York Historical Society’s fourth floor into a cutting-edge permanent museum space and center for scholarship focused on women’s history. It is the first such initiative in New York City, on a scale that is unprecedented in the United States. Informed by new research, the Center’s programming will highlight the significance of women’s history to the study of the American past, while advancing provocative and original connections between the American historical narrative and the stories of New York women. The new Center will focus particular attention on the relevance of women’s history to broader movements around labor, health, justice, and social welfare that illuminate cultural, political, ethnic, societal, and economic change over time.
