Bronze struck medal with obverse showing clothed shoulder-length portrait of Lincoln facing right with dates: "1809", at left, and "1909", at right. Reverse depicts eagle perched on edge of rock with sea wave breaking below; sun rays piercing cloud above; inscription at center left of field: "PRESERVE PROTECT/DEFEND."
