Description
Box containing artist's supplies; wooden rectangular box with flat, hinged top, brass hinges, keyhole surround, and lock, with drawer extending length of box, with brass handle flush with mount at front of box; inside of lid and bottom of several compartments covered in bright blue paper with gold stamped inscriptions or images; interior of box divided into series of compartments, with long cardboard box in front compartment containing palette knife with wooden handle, three paintbrushes, three paintbrush shafts, and two curved wood shavings, with five paintbrushes and two paintbrush shafts underneath; in center compartments, brown rectangular block (of paint?), rectangular whiteware palette balanced on top of four packets of sticks of charcoal, round colorless pressed glass cup with sunburst pattern at center, ivory rest or stand for paintbrushes, and five tiny stamps painted with gold leaf with engraved Chinese characters; at back of box, top tray divided into three rows containing solid blocks of paint wrapped in foil, on top of tray with spaces for unsharpened pencil, ink pen, two other writing utensils, paintbrush shaft, and larger paintbrush; in drawer, whiteware palette with traces of paint; green felt on bottom of box; box also contains packet of gold dust and several pieces of paper, some with pencilled inscriptions.
