Description
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing bust-length portrait of Christopher Columbus, facing right, enclosed by laurel wreath, with legend: "BARCELONA A COLON"; all surrounded by elaborate border showing scene of Columbus's voyage with coat of arms surmounted by crown and enclosed by laurel branch and palm frond. Reverse depicts standing female figure with lion at her feet; column at right; monument to Christopher Columbus in distant background at left; legend: "IV. CENTENARIO DEL DESCUBRIMIENTO DE LAS AMERICAS"; date in exergue: "MDCCCXCII."
