Barbara K. Lipman Children’s History Library in the Lower Level
Meet Jimmy and Taro, two young brothers living and looking for hope in a Japanese American internment camp during World War II. Fish for Jimmy is a beautifully illustrated children’s book that explores the daily life, the food, and the hardships experienced by Japanese Americans placed in these camps, surrounded by fences and locked gates, during the war.
Join Katie Yamasaki for this special program in conjunction with the special exhibition WWII & NYC. Katie will read from her book and share her own family’s experience during World War II, which was the inspiration for this story.
