New York 26th United States Colored Troops: Living History Days
Sat, April 5th, 2014 | 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free with Museum admission; all ages
Meet the men of New York’s own 26th United States Colored Troops (USCT) regiment and visit the new exhibition Homefront & Battlefield: Quilts & Context in the Civil War. The USCT were regiments of the United States Army during the American Civil War and were composed of African American—“colored”—soldiers.

Families can see the uniforms and material up close, witness the drills and battle prep, and talk with the soldiers about their lives during the war. You’ll meet men who came from near and far to enlist in the NY 26th, one of three USCT regiments from New York. Jump back in time and come join the NY 26th!
